inund8 wrote:

Is anyone else here bothered slightly by the fact that the vehicles and starfighters in FS don't seem to accurate centers of mass?
Two prime examples are the speeder bikes and X-Wings. Both of them seem to have a center of mass somewhere in the skinny part of the vehicle, instead of further back where the pilot and, most of all, the engines are located.
The fix for this probably as simply as shifting the model around in whatever 3D modelling program was used to make it (3dsmax right?) though I wouldn't having no experience 2142 modding.

You are very satisfyingly right, for someone who is posting in the public forums and not the dev forums

If you open the X-Wing model in the editor, you will find the centrepoint of the vehicle more past the cockpit than in the "core" of the fuselage back between the R2 unit and the engines.

I don't know if there are plans to change this, but it gives me a lot of hope knowing someone noticed this....

EDIT: Yeah I agree with SafeKeeper. As far as I know, the centrepoint of the vehicle is where it pivots, making it a very important factor in the modeling and export.
