I used to encounter CTDs when using the SP mod, but they were random, and occurred during game play. I did what I said in the previous post, and I haven't had the problem since.

Here is my FirstStrike information from the Registry. I have changed one of the entries, and it all works great for me.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\First Strike Mod]
"DisplayName"="First Strike Mod"
"Version"="1.1"
"Publisher"="Galactic Conquest Test"
"UninstallString"="C:\\Program Files\\Electronic Arts\\Battlefield 2142\\Mods\\FirstStrike\\Uninst.exe"

Copy code above, paste into notepad, and save it as a .reg file, then execute it.*

* Before doing this, make sure to make a backup of the information that will be altered, just in case.

----------------------------------------------------

Also, there are many fixes for this type of problem, many of them including uninstalling the game (if the My Documents\Battlefield 2142\ folder still exists after, I recommend making a backup of it, then removing the folder), and the mod, then deleting all registry entries pertaining to them, then re-installing it all back. When I upgraded to 1.40, I went into the registry and deleted the registry information that update 1.25 left, you might also try the same.

----------------------------------------------------

You say the problem might be related to your router/network. I recommend making sure all the ports that Battlefield use are open on your router and computer, and also try to make sure that the router is not blocking the ports either, globally or just to your computers LAN IP.

This site here can be of great use for finding ports that common applications/games use, and is also extremely useful for port forwarding help.
Clicky

Battlefield 2142 uses TCP ports:

80

18510
27900-27901

I don't know what your problem is, but I do suggest trying this:

Go to your My Documents folder, go into Battlefield 2142 folder, go into Mods folder, go into the bf2142/FirstStrike/FS_SP folders, go into their cache folders, and delete everything inside of them.

Next, go to:
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142

And rename the file named radial.cdb*

* Renaming radial.cdb is known to fix a lot of game crashing problems. The file is automatically regenerated when you start the game, but we rename the file just for backup purposes - just in case. I do know that doing this fixed game crashes that my friend was getting.

Problem:
After Patching BF 2142 to 1.4 i have noticed a CTD every time i try to start a local Server in Fist-Strike.

This CTD happens when:
FirstStrike, starting local Server or playing a Battlerecorderfile.
First Strike Singleplayermod, starting a Singleplayergame or a local Server.
BF 2142, starting a Singleplayergame, a local Server or playing a Battlerecorderfile.

Multiplayer works fine with both Mods and BF 2142 Vanilla, also local Server and Singleplayer works with Patch 1.25 - so it's clearly a BF 2142 Patch 1.4 Problem.

Solution:
Strangely Singleplayer and Local Server work if i deactive the Network-Conection. BF2142 tells me the Masterserver isn't aviable and i must play offline, but it works.

It's a quick an dirty fix if you only want to train a little bit on an empty server, but nothing more.

Question:
Have other users the same Problem ?

My installation of BF 2142 and FirstStrike:

Old: (With this Installation local Server and Singleplayer worked)
-> BF 2142
-> Patch 1.25
-> Northern Strike
-> Patch 1.25
-> First Strike
-> First Strike Singleplayer

New (After getting a second HardDisk and a new Installation of Windows XP )
-> BF 2142
-> Patch 1.4
-> Northern Strike
-> Patch 1.4
-> First Strike
-> First Strike Singleplayer

Maybe this Problem don't affect users who have updated from 1.25 to 1.4 ?
