Here in central New York all we get is snow...  A lot.  Last night we got about a foot and a half of it, but it's so normal we didn't even have a delay at school today.

Last time there was snow here was about 2 years ago and it lasted for about a day and a half.

Yea dude... I lived it California we had Earthquakes like that like once every 2 years or so.

heh well I was in living in San Francisco in 1989, and to be honest, that's the only time I ever remember the ground moving significantly, until i moved in 1995

Weird, UK is nowhere near a tectonic plate boundary.

Actually it is quite often that places nowhere near the plate boundary have earthquakes. I think it is more the size of it.

Or perhaps an inclement volcano formation right in the middle of Lincolnshire.

And only in England must you distinguish Tornado the fighter jet from tornadoes as weather events. You British have it easy.

Why is everyone making this such a huge deal?

It's rare here in the UK, as are tornado's (the wind things, not the aircraft) so they get a lot of press. Plus, being so small an area pretty much most of the country gets to feel it in some small way.

Apparently it was the worst one we 'd had in over 25 years measuring 5.3, and its epicentre was in Lincolnshire, so it must have felt a lot worse for those guys down south.
