On a local Server even highest Settings don't cause lags, only in Multiplay.
Maybe some highpingers form Oversea on the server ?

Heh, I thought Twigs was going to go and start composing a poem...

Anyways, I seem to do fine in space maps, I tend to only lag when flying right into an explosion.

The only time i get lag in space is when..

i attempt to fly the large imperial shuttle in to the Imperial star destroyer's hanger, a huge amount of lag is caused... Its as if the game doesnt like it when i try to fit that big ship inside the small hanger

Hmm, strange, my SLI setup seems quite happy in space I could make you all sick by posting up pics of my FPS in action...but I wont. Just rejoice that while you cant see me too good, My rapidly scrolling frames are lighting you up like a huge beacon in my sights

Your framerate should remain around the same as in Taloraan in general, but flying near the ISD does cause a little framerate drop for some people. I tend to try and do my dogfighting away from it and only get in close for bombing runs on the heavy turbolasers. That said, some people have next to no frame drop at all in those areas, the swines.

I also have low FPS in Space, "Escape from Hoth" seems to be more affected than "Battle for Talorian".

GFX Card: ATI X1950 GT AGP with 512 MB,
CPU P4 Northwood @ 3 Ghz,
RAM is 2 GIG,
OS XP 32 Bit
Driver is from February 25, 2008

FpS are locked with game.lockFps 30 to 30 Fps, Minimum FpS are falling under 14 if i Fly over the Stardestroyer (I try to confirm it after doing some In-Game Tweaking)

Maybe it's a Driver thing, because I cant remember of any FpS problems before February 2008.
(But in the old days only 32 Players have been on the server )

Off Topic:
The ATI 2600 is the first ATI mid Range DX10 Card. Not realy fast enough to play in DX10.
Slower in DX9 compared to the ATI 1950 Series because the smaller Memory Interface (128 BIT vs 256) but cooler and less powerconsuming because the GPUs smaller strukture.

I think I'm going to take this card back as it only slightly improves my performance and was $230 plus a $50 power supply. Oh well..

Most battlefield games are graphic intensive not cpu. Leave your 64 chip alone at present and pick yourself up the best graphics card you can afford. I take it your motherboard is pci express? look into the new 9600gt or even the 8800gt 256mb if moneys tight .

For $50 more you could get a great card.

As far as your CPU holding you back...I know nothing about AMD CPUs so I can't help you there.

Speaking of graphics cards, what would you suggest for someone wanting to replace a 7300 GS while on a $100 budget? I'm browsing through NewEgg but it's all French to me, and my Software Engineer brother isn't bothering to help me.

(Edit) And would getting a new graphics card be virtually pointless without replacing my AMD Athlon 64 processor, or does it not matter?
