Any faster and they'd be impossible to hit from anywhere but directly in front or directly behind (lag) , meaning most kills would be collisions...
3: Already have them. Perhaps Tie Interceptor could use it.
4: Would be accurate to the games, but fighter combat in the movies was never about fire and forget missiles- it was all about dogfighting. They aren't Unreal Tournament rifles.
7: How would jetpacks contribute to squadplay? Ba da-da-dah da dahhhh! Up up and away! Whoosh. All very entertaining, but its not conducive to teamwork if one guy boosts off into the Horizon.
They also were not used militarily in the movies- just a bounty hunter (read: lone wolf) who would need to get into and out of trouble quick.

I love the idea of jump jets- loved it in battlefront.

Lame, making the game more exciting is lame?

DUKE, please actually listen to what we're saying. It's not feasible to split the mod into different versions because:

1. We've got only one mod team. A small mod team. We've got enough on our hands making and testing this one mod if we aren't going to have to make several completely different versions of it, too. And yes, they'd have to be completely different. Faster vehicles would mean the other aspects of the game would have to change, too. We'd end up with a completely different mod. Which brings me to my second point...

2. As you said, we have a very small player base. If this mod is to have action/realism minimods, it'll have to wait until we have a large enough player base to split in two or three parts. Lots of big mods (FH, PR, etc.) have multiple minimods, even some full-fledged large-scale mods, but FS isn't in that league yet.

3. It's not good gameplay, as I've said multiple times.

There are still hundreds of people playing Battlefront 2 online on a daily basis, two and a half years after its release, in spite of its graphics which are crappy even for 2005 standards. The reason why they are still playing: it's exciting! For example, the new Space Endor mod map. There are probably a dozen or so people playing First Strike on a daily basis. Most of time that I check, the servers are empty. I want First Strike to be a success. If you want to attract a large number of players, you are going to have to incorporate elements that make the game more exciting.

I hate the "you've got few people playing because you're not following my idea!" approach. Please cut that out. There are actual, real reasons why not too many people play FS, and the devs know what they are.

There are lots of people playing realistic mods, too. Most PR players won't go near FS. I could just as easily use your logic to say we should make FS more advanced (which would, I'm sure, attract more players than making it less realistic and advanced - why on Earth should we make our mod more like a released game it's not related to? Do you want this to be Battlefront 3?).

Lucasarts realized this for Battlefront 2 and The Force Unleashed with its greatly exaggerated force powers.

And Black Sand Studios realized there's a niche for realism, and made the hugely popular PR, which is one of the most popular and lasting BF series mods out there (along with, coincidentally, the realism/teamwork-oriented Forgotten Hope and its sequel, Forgotten Hope 2).

Your primary potential player base are Star Wars fans, that is, those people currently playing Battlefront 2. The best way to attract them over is to give them equal or better gameplay.

Actually, looking at the market today, you'll see that it's run down by overly simplistic arcade games. There's no realistic title like the old TIE Fighter came decently close to be. Which means that if FS really wanted players, it should go realism and fill that vacuum. So your argument fails.

3. Fighters with the Boost function.

They already have boost function.

4. Fighters with lock-on missiles
5. Ground troops with lock-on missiles

N-uh. Lock-on missiles are realistic, remember? You don't like realism, so you need to stick with your unrealistic dumb-fire missiles. Tough luck.

6. Rifles that are more powerful and more accurate. The sniper rifles are quite inaccurate.

And this can't be implemented into regular FS because?

Having two versions of each map would be best. Standard version maps and the more exciting Extreme version maps.

Having two version of each map would be impossible without hiring a second dev and tester team.
