Hurray, Hurray! I finally got it to work!. I guess the third times the charm. (well fourth really) I managed to get it to work installing it in the same order as I had every other time. The only difference was that I restarted my computer between every step. Don't really know the reason but who cares... IT WORKS and the game is AWSOME!

I still get a CTD when I try to log on to any server that runs the Tatooine Mos Espa map. Everything else work beautifully.

Thank you to all that helped me get it going properly and especially to you Safe-Keeper. Thanks for putting up with my frustration. Is Safe-Keeper your BF login name? If so, I look forward to killing you with my Thermal Detonator!

My BF2142 is in the default folder. And no, I'm not logging in to a test server. I am going to try and reinstall everything in order the way the SafeKeeper told me - which is the way I did it in the first place. If it doesn't work AGAIN then your right about v.1.2. I'll just play it then.

I'm not trying to be unreasonable about this. I know how hard it is to get a game to work on so many system configurations. My system is something I built and would be considered reasonably unique.

To the devs: Keep it up guys. Your doing your best and I approve!

Very strange. You're not trying to join test servers, are you? Such as Ewok on a Stick or First Strike US Test? Though, even then, you should just get a modified content error or something, not CTD.

Is your copy of BF2142 located in the default folder suggested by the installation program? It's known to act up with mods if it's placed in a custom folder. Try uninstalling it (possibly a good idea anyhow) and installing it in its default folder.

Or just wait for FS 1.2. It's not that far off, and it'll come with a Full installer, more likely than not.

In step 4 I am told to "Patch FS to 1.11. Hit "Ignore" again.". I've tried installing the full 1.1 mod AND I've tried installing the 1.0 then patch to 1.1 and both ways just give me a CTD in BOTH MP and SP.

Is 1.11 a different patch than 1.1?
Where can I find 1.11? It's not at fsmod.com. I only see 1.1.

Finding servers with players is all about timing. Oh, and there are community games which typically draw crowds every Friday and Saturday.

But of course, in the very near future you'll have seven new maps, new vehicles, combined arms combat and other goodies to play with, and numbers will rise. We're seeing more dedicated servers starting up already.

As far as i'm aware you only get a CTD if you click single player. The servers are not always empty, I had a few excellent games last night. Hope you get on, you really will be blown away by this mod

Do as safe keeper said and it should work fine. I am thinking it didn't work for you because your patching order got screwed up, it messes up because the 1.4 patch somewhat conflicted with the FS patches and if you install them certain ways they can mess up the game... It's not the devs FAULT really, it was jsut bad timing.

If you want to play Singleplayer go download the SP minimod in the general discussion forum.

Theoretically 1.2 would easily fix your problem because it overwrites all the older stuff that did cause the problems, as long as you install it with 2142 1.4 patch.

1. Install BF2142.
2. Patch to 1.40.
3. Install FS. Hit "Ignore" when it says it needs 1.25.
4. Patch FS to 1.1. Hit "Ignore" again. [Edit: Typo fixed.]

MP will now work. SP has not yet been implemented.

And this mod works for most people.

I've reinstalled BF2142 and patched it to BF2142v.1.25 with no effect. BF2142V.1.40 does axactly what BF2142v.1.25 does...CTD! Thats all I ever get. Singleplayer and Multiplayer is the same.
