Ah... That makes sense now. Usually I keep holding down trying to STOP it, when in all actuality that's what causes it.

If you use a joystick you need to center your throttle to idle. S = vertical lift, W = forward, nothing = idle.

Whenever I idle in an air vehicle now it slowly rises, which is annoying when trying to pick someone up or land correctly. If it is meant to do that, vertical movement should be controlled by its own button.
