I don't miss the spotting of the commander,i don't miss the UAV / Supply drop / Artillery Support or the scan (things what other mods, like PoE 2 for BF2, have stripped from the commander).
But i miss a player who has the tactical overview and can coordinate the squads.
The way First Strike is now (without commander) leads in the best case to good teamwork in a squad.
Without commander teamwork between 2 or more squads it's impossible.
I remember the good old days of 1.1... when the devs like Woodrow try to use the all and team chat to coordinate the Player.
Sometimes it has worked well, but it's a crippled way to get team play.
And remember:
The Commander was huge improved from BF2 to BF 2142.
You can give orders to the Squads by using the 3D Map, you can select the Squad with the mouse wheel,...
