Just a blind shotgun shot in a good direction when all else fails.

Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>DVD/CD-ROM drives>right click-uninstall

The computer will then find 'new hardware' and re-install the drivers for the drive.  This worked for me as I cursed EA and DICE  during Christmas (when I'd bought the game for my son).

My quick fix was to try a different PC (installed flawlessly), but that was not the one I wanted it on.  So I tried the above fix and it worked.

Your mileage may vary...

If the antivir scanner checks the process what looks for the DVD such an error is nothing unexcepted.

Nothing works! I really want to try this new version of FS sad
I'm on Vista (SP1) by the way. It worked when I had XP...

So I started up BF2142/FS and came in the all big black screen. Suddendly I got CTD'd because my antivirus was giving an error. Uninstalled 'Symentec' and I could get into the game after 5 mins. of starting up.

So I don't know how the first thing was solved but. If any other problems occur. Maybe uninstall your antivirus.

"Please ensure Battlefield 2142 Install Disc is in the drive, select OK and restart the application."

And I can tell you, my disc IS in the drive. Now I also tried it to run with a no dvd crack but it isn't working either. Little help maybe?
