8800 gts 512 is a good allrounder. You listed your comp specs but what size monitor do you use? The higher the native resolution the higher the spec card you'll need. Don't be tempted by the 9800 gtx, its basically a 8800gts 512 with a different sticker on it

do you actually think that a vendor warranty has any bearing on the service life of the card ? lol
Im wishfull too sometimes.
Yes the expensive ones die at almost the same rate as the cheap ones. The fact is , they die , and I guarantee that over half of the installations create too much heat. Poor box arrangements...
I cant remember how many times Ive seen an upper-crust graphics card crammed up against another PCI card with its heat sink air intake millimeters away from the next card. lol.
Stuff like that, and wrapping your card in 80 conductor IDE ribbon so that no air can flow past it.
Thats another brilliant arrangement seen often.

My quattro started doing the chineese carpet thing too , with geometrical tracers sprouting off of objects .
But before completely replacing it , I tested it with some circuitboard chiller spray.
When It got hot, it would start to mess up ... I hit it with the spray right in the heat-sink to cool the chip , and the problem went away until it warmed back up.
So, i tore off the stock fan and sink, used thermal-epoxy to mount a larger, better heat-sink to the GPU chip , and right now for the last 4 days , no problems at all. no chineese carpets floating araound. I also added two strips of copper to the tops of the memory chips mounted on the graphics card also. Thermal epoxy kicks pie.

I've found out that my current graphic card is dying. There are alot of 'colored' dots on my screen' and ingame there are lines everywhere.

So I came to the conclusion that I need a new one. But which one? I'm not quite sure I've never realy been into computers and all that, so pherhaps maybe some of you guys can help me pick something good out. The only real things that I want is: play BF2142 on highest quality, and it must be better then the GeForce 7900 GT/GTO.

My system:
AMD Athlon (tm) 64 X2 Dual
Core Processor 3800+
2.01 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM

So wich card would be the best for me ?
