Quite high .
Thats why its very important to test the 2142 installation in stages before and during the upgrade to FS. The one I noticed the most in troubleshooting the game recently was the number of bad downloads of the last incremental patch.
If you can launch the game at 1.2, then you can isolate the problem as being in the patch.
Dont reinstall your current downloaded patch, redownload it and try again, this worked twice today for noobs I brought in to the game that needed complete installs

Yea.... I have no idea what to do now, cause nothing is working. the 1.25-1.3 update installed and said it was all good, but again - its doing what it did before, with the regular BF2142 backgrounds and themes.

Ok, so I uninstalled First Strike AGAIN, and tried going the 1.25-1.3 route. This time, it gave me the following error when I began the install:

You do not appear to have First Strike version 1.2 or later correctly installed.
If you installed the files directly without the installer, press ignore to continue.

And I used the 1.2-1.25 installer.

Yeeaaa.... I removed the SP mod, ensured nothing but BF2142 was in the folder, (uninstalled FS) reinstalled FS 1.2, then updated to 1.3 and still have the same issue.

I'm afraid removing the SP mod is not enough. You need to remove FS entirely, because it appears the links to the correct files are screwed by the SP mod.

So remove FS and make sure nothing is left in the mod directory, except for the BF2142 directory and reinstall from there.

That should give you the FS look again and hopefully start your game.

Ok, so I removed the SP mod, and its still doing the same thing.

Also, when you said "BF2142 directoy and have a look at the directory MODS. There should be a BF2142 directory there, which let's you play BF2142 and a First Strike directory," that's all there.

Now, when I launch BF2142 and go to Mods, First Strike says its only version 1.2. So I was like, 'waah?' and went and tried reinstalling 1.3, and it said 1.3 was already installed.... Check it out.

This could be the issue, cause I did install the mini mod a while back. I'll delete that and give it a try.

From what your saying its almost like FS isn't installed lol. Can you join the mod via the 2142 community / custom games section in 2142? If you can then check the game directory path via the properties on the FS desktop icon
Mine looks like this: Target =
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +modPath mods/FirstStrike +menu 1 +fullscreen 1
Start in =
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142"
That is ofcourse providing you installed both 2142 and FS to your C drive

From what I can see the mod is not installed in the correct directory. Go to your BF2142 directoy and have a look at the directory MODS. There should be a BF2142 directory there, which let's you play BF2142 and a First Strike directory. If it's not there, it won't work. If you have a directory MODS in the MODS directory it won't work.

If it is there, you might have installed the Single player mini mod which sometimes interfenes with the online game.
