I had this texture problem when I first used the editor. You know when you choose (in the tweak bar) "detail textures" and "colour textures"? Well don't choose the colour textures, only use the detail textures and pure colours. You can select pure colours by clicking the square before or after colour texture in the tweak bar.

Now, when you paint, there is that bar to the right, and texture painting options should be open. Select detail texture mode and then select detail mode. Then paint. After that, you select colour texture mode and then select the color mode. You shouldn't have those weird colours showing up anymore.

There is also something about merging, but Benu could help you with that. It's not important for now I believe.

That's how I think I do it, but I need the editor open to be sure. Anyway, try that and see if it works. And I can't help you with the crashing problem. Sorry.

Also remember to set the editor to draw high-detail textures. This can be toggled from the Render drop-down menu, it'll have settings like "grid", "wireframe", etc. Set it to "Detail texture" or whatever when texturing.

I have followed every tutorial and help thread on the that i can find (including the two STICKY threads on here). I'm on Vista 32-bit with UAC off. I have BF2, BF2142 and First Strike all playable and working perfectly with all the latest patches. BF2 Editor works for the most part. It still crashes every time I exit, and loses data when I reopen things (like what my detail and color textures were the last time I saved). As you can see, I can paint color textures fine, but not detail textures. I don't know what is wrong. I have also tries using tpaint. It doesn't seem to do anything.

Things work fine when I work with the BF2 mod, but, (as here) I cannot paint textures correctly while working with the First Strike mod.

I don't know where textures are in the mods directory (if they are even there), or even where the BF2 Editor looks to get the textures. If someone could tell me where I could find all of the textures in my directory, I may be able to solve this. There is a possibility I missed some critical points while integrating First Strike with the BF2 Editor. What I did do: I copied the mods/FirstStrike folder from 2142 to BF2. Then I unzipped the object, common, staticobjects, etc. correctly. I ran the editor in XP compatibility mode.

I spent two hours trying to figure out why I was clicking to paint textures and nothing was happening. I just had to select like two buttons...

Question: is randomization possible* in the BF2142 engine? Can you do something like create a spec ops mission where the defenders faced Imperials spawning at a CP that was randomly chosen from one of several sites when the map was loaded, and then, after they destroy some objectives, the Imps need to secure and hold an Pickup Zone which is also randomly selected?

*and with possible, I mean of course 'practical without a huge amount of struggle and headache'.

got a major prob with lod switch distance on the bimmiel map. basically doesnt matter what value i put in the LodSwitchDistance tag it just ignores it in game. In game i think its set too around 100 meters which is no where near enuf! You walk around in like a little bubble and is especially noticable when driving vehicles. I've tried all sorts too fix it, even setting all the textures too lod 0 didnt work! Any suggestions as this ruins the map completely till its fixed.
