At least it's a pat on the back to the mappers. You know your map is good when people would rather run around on them alone than play the old ones with actual people to fight !

I have them both in the mods folder, named for example FirstStrikeAlpha and FirstStrikeAlpha, with backups on an external hard drive so I don't have to do a complete reinstall if either suddenly doesn't work. The one I currently use is renamed FirstStrike. Switching between the two is as easy as renaming the folders.

It is simple enough, the most simple way is to just create two folders, one named First Strike Mod the other First Strike Testing or whatever, then you install two copies of First Strike, when you want to play normal FS you bring it out of the First Strike Mod folder and put it in the MODS folder to play, with the test version stored safely within the First Strike Test folder. When you want to play the test version of the mod you stash the standard version of FS in the First Strike Mod folder and bring out the test version from the First Strike Testing folder into the MODS folder. Easy.

The switching was super simple -
1) I renamed my FirstStrike folder (the one inside of MODS) to 'FirstStrike_spare', (after I right clicked on it and hit "copy".)
2) Then I right click "paste" to put it right back , next to the newly named folder.
3) Run the autopatcher hootis thingy to mod up the FS install to the testers version.
4) Now I can test the latest version, but regular FS doesnt work.
5) When i want to play regular FS reverse the names of the two folders. Thats it.

Now keep in mind, when you reverse back, you cant call the 'FirstStrike' folder 'FirstStrike_spare' yet because theres already one named that. So call it 'FirstStrike_alt' or anything. Call it 'poontang' whatever. Once you rename the 'FirstStrike_spare' folder back to 'FirstStrike' then you can change 'poontang' (or whatever the alt name is) to 'firstStrike_spare.
It takes like 2 minutes or less to flip over.
I even made a MS-DOS batch file to do this for me so i can do the flip with one click.
If anyone wants a copy of the Batch file I will post it for you all.

Speaking of which, this should be integrated function for the future autopatch file. It would prevent people from screwing up their installs.

Had two awesome Escape from Hoth rounds tonight with 22 people, some cool rounds on the other maps, too, the mod is definitely not dead .

Its cyclic for sure ... and its a down cycle at the moment.
Beta testing was very productive for the games development, but also disrupted the harmonic effect that had people all getting on together recently.
Have no fear, as more people than ever have tried and love the game.
What I feel will bring everyone back into harmony (syncronized) again is the reslease of the next revision. Then the big battles like we had last month will be in full swing.
keep up the good work, thats what matters.

Yeah there are alot of different time zones represented and north american players are fewer than europe. We are working on some solutions for this.

I still believe that adding as many buddies as you can from in game will result in more servers because you will see when you get on just how many players are out there. If you dont have them as a buddy you can't see how many are in 2142 period.

Be nice if we could get one US server populated in the evenings, if not nightly atleast a couple nights a week. I would've already been on skates server but its late for me and I've been workin major hours cleaning up Hurricane Ike damage, very long days and hard to stay up late enough.

Well now that Ive been able to play FS again, whenever Ive been getting on, theres about an average of 4-5 guys on. So everyone tends to get on later in the night?
