i saw it on a german bf-news site - the ranked servers had some of their ftp-accesses closed or something like that to prevent statspadders from hacking into the stats system or whatsoever... that was said to be the cause of these problems... but im not quite sure about it

I remember back when Battlefeild vietnam had that happen.
Apparently they proxy the hosted servers information , and if the Proxy goes down, people cant find servers using the normal means.

As long as you have the lost servers in your Favorites or History you'll be fine as far as getting access to these poor little lost puppies, but unfortunately it'll make it hard for new players who haven't got these servers addresses yet. Make good use of the Buddy System and get like-minded players in your list and then you have the option of joining these lost servers through them.

(if they have the addresses that is )

Aye noticed that too. It is as far as I know EA. Again. But importantly, the testing server is ok

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but I'm only seeing four servers at the moment – and Rogue Tribe's is one of those that has disappeared!

Apparently, it's an EA (or possibly GameSpy) problem: http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-2142/
