Update on the situation: Since none of the laptops offered were on par with my previous one they have given me the choice of taking a nice desktop with a GeForce 8800gt and 4 gigs of RAM. What do ya think

Its the same aproximate value as the laptops.

Hrmm, never had a good experience with HP, in or out of the office. Had an HP pc a while ago, will not go back. One time I had to find drivers for one of their office printers and I had to wade through a truly appalling support page. They had a half dozen sets of drivers with no clear descriptive language to differentiate one from another.

Im in retail with a US based office supply store, ACER = Crapola they are cheap for a reason ! Im told customer service with them is abysmal , Toshiba , Sony , and Fujitsu are nice brands to go with . If you can find the laptop you're interested in buying in a store on display , run the Vista experience rating (computer properties) and take note of where it's lowest score/s show you. I have seen AMD quadcores that run lower scores than my old FX 55 score does.

OK so its either the acer or the toshiba, I need help deciding which, please respond as I have to make a decision quickly.

EDIT* The more I think about it the more I like the HP.........man im confused.

I had an Acer Travelmate, don't remember the model number, and it was good, never any problems with it. Right now I have an Asus M50SV and it is smoking hot.

the Acer - no doubt, looks best to me

Toshibas might run into heat problems eventually (i also read that)

And my personal experience: no Sony - Sony Notebooks bad!
At least the one i bought 5 years ago.... Never again!
