No, it's not the launcher.

Search around these forums for "Crash on Deploy" and you'll likely find a solution. If you're trying to play singleplayer, this is not currently supported and will give you exactly what you are experiencing. There is a SP minimod stickied in the general forum you can download to try this out. Otherwise, go into multiplayer and either join a server or create a local server. Hope that helps.

Nope, Pentium D. Also BF2142 works perfectly, just First Strike crashes.

If you have AMD processor, try using AMD Dual-Core Optimizer

I think thats it...but it doesnt work. The .bat for my install-path would be:

CD "C:\Games\Action\Battlefield 2142"
start /AFFINITY 1 BF2142.exe +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

I started it after that, but still CTD. Its not importend where the .bat is located right? (I put it in the Battlefield folder)

I run Vista with a dual-core, and I don't recall having to go through all that. Just make sure you're running BF2142 and FS as administrators. I've heard different views on this next one, but I run both in XP mode.

Which thread were you reading that you had so much trouble with?

Try doing a search on this forum for "vista" and you should find anything you need to know about vista and FS tech problems. Because chances are, this won't be the only problem you'll have. But trust me on this... it will be worth it! This mod kicks major A$$!

I can run First Strike 1.3 and start a map, but as soon as the map has loaded and I click to enter, it crashes. Vista pops up an error message "firstrike.exe doesnt work anymore".

Thing is, I read in another board about exact the same problem, the guy also got a solution but he expressed himself so badly I dont know what he ment exactly.

Something about that on Vista with Dual-Core processor you sometimes have to tell the .exe to just run on one processor...by adding "something" to its path...

Can someone clear this up for me?
