  CoD4 was perhaps the best shooter I have ever played, I'm not sure about CoD5 though I think the WW2 theme is a little over done though.

Nah, stick to what the series is about, I say. WWII isn't an original theatre, but is 'let's do a game where the US fights terrorists because that's what's everyone else does these days' isn't exactly original either .

Games departing from their set course usually does not go well, and if you want to depart from the series' norm, you should name your new title the first of a new series, 'from the makers of [old and famous series]' rather than being dishonest. I mean, imagine if Hideo Kojima went slightly nuts and made a Metal Gear Solid sequel where instead of sneaking you went around mowing down your enemies with the arsenal of a full infantry platoon. Far Cry 2 is the one I am lookin forward to most. I wasnt all that much of a fan of the 1st one - got bored half way through - but the new savanna setting and all the new features and the concentration on immersion (love the fact your "minimap" is an actual map and compass - I've been wanting that in a game for ages) in FC2 have me foaming at the mouth.

Pro Evo Soccer 09 will hopefully be better than 08, but having gotten FIFA09 recently, it will take some doing to beat FIFA's latest.

I cannot wait for Fable 2, I loved the 1st one and it looks as tho the sequel is going to be even better.

I havent really played any SP games properly for a long time, but every now and then there are brilliant pieces of work that you just have to play - KOTOR, Oblivion, Fable 1 and Crysis being examples of this from the past 5-7 years. Im sure Ive missed out of some cracking games tho - Witcher looks interesting = a game I had never heard about until recently.

Any other good, eargerly awaited games out before the year is out?
