Funnily enough, that crossed my mind shortly after my last post. Going to give it a go tonight, hopefully there'll be some players around to give it a work out. If it works I'll probably let the card go back to it's stock settings.

I blame the testers.

Well, the funny thing is, I've rolled back my drivers and running 2142 everything is fine. Running FS I get the glitches. Maybe I should try a FS reinstall.

Yea, I had the same issue Twigs. It's because the newer graphics drivers are incompatible with 2142.

Last week my computer shut off and wouldn't go back on. I assumed that it was the power supply, and tried to replace it with a spare that belonged to my brother, only to learn it didn't fit. I then went to the nearest Best Buy to get a new $100 one, just to learn it also didn't fit (Starting to regret getting the Micro ATX case). In the end I ended up taking out my DVD drive and putting the spare in, and I ordered a new case so these problems won't have to be dealt with in the future.

Yeah Twigs, I had the exact same issue when I updated my NVidia drivers a couple of weeks back, had to roll back also to get 2142 to work again.

Forceware 177.83 is the last good one for my 8800 GTS

with newer drivers you could try reducing your AA settings (or turn it off) - people reported AA seems to cause those graphic glitches in 2142

keep watching those temps and good luck!

The new NVidia drivers have probs with bf2142, others have reported this here a bit ago. I guess since you've been away you didn't know.

My PC died on me some time ago. Wouldn't start, just gave off a weird clicking sound. I turned it in for repairs, and the note I got back with it said "Replaced new system files with old ones".

Sigh. Why on Earth does the thing upgrade if the new bling causes it to die?

hmm, very bizarre. Got home from work tonight and removed graphics card, not surprisingly it had very little dust on it but gave it a good clean round anyway. Put it back in and booted up and went straight in to FS. Large blocky artifacts all over screen. Just to check it wasn't a thermal problem I installed riva tuner and looked at the temps, 49 degrees, and adjusted the fan speed to run at 80%, loaded up FS to find the same thing. So....

I then decided to see if a driver roll back would help, uninstalled the newest nvid drivers and installed drivers from a few months ago. Loaded up FS....perfect. No artifacts, no digi effects.....

Think I'll leave it as is until I get that new card!

For the past couple days I've been getting occasional glitches in game, the odd pixel showing as red or green, black lines extending from various statics and gun sights, colours on troopers (not a real problem as it was in Rhenvar so they was easy to spot at a distance ) and last night the screen was just not dran properly at all, wil a sort of blocky digital effect all over the screen which gave a sort of 'fog' effect to everything.

It's a 7900GT I've had for a while now so I'm due for an upgrade anyway, I just can't afford it right now. When i do upgrade (hopefully in December) I'll be switching to a 4850 or possibly a 4870 if I can get the budget to stretch a little further.

In the mean time, I'm going to try cleaning out the card of any dust as well as wiping the contacts and hope that helps. So...if I suddenly disappear I may well have lost my graphics!
