No sweat mate, its just a case of knowing that sticky stuff doesnt like cleany stuff As long as you dont scrub too hard and let the chemical do the work it usually does the job. Just be careful you dont use anything too strong as it can corrupt the disk by (in extremes) melting it, or permeating the plastic and destroying the data layer.

Apparantly WD-40 (spray oil) is really good for getting under the sticky stuff so you can just wipe it off as well.

Thanks for the advice guys, I took Twigs first advice and found some CD cleaning solvent lying around and it worked like a charm! So Ace isn't out of the game yet!

It's a long shot, by worth a try. Contact EA, explain whats happened and include your CD key, Profile name and soldier profiles to show that you do hav a genuine copy etc. Ask if there is any way to continue playing the game without a cd, or if they could send you a replacement disk even if that means you have to send your disk back first (do so by recorded delivery!).

Yeah lame =/ and my CD is buggered completely, I managed to get off half of the crap and it reads the cd but it just gets stuck on the 2142 splash screen with the cd drive making loud noises

What, there are no BF2142 no CD cracks that are compatible with the up to date patched vanilla game? That is a bit backwards. Surely if you have a working crack and then update it should still work? That is a bit crap.

There are no working no cd cracks for the latest version of 2142 if there was I wouldn't have just got the game.

Use a mild solvent to nullify the sticky stuff, or just use warm soapy water.

Well there is no CD crack for First Strike as there is no CD. However there are a few no CD cracks for BF2142 available that are compatible with FS, for people in your predicament only obviously, I'm sure someone will be able to point you in the right direction.

nope I just bought 2142 so I can play FS again and the DVD appears to be scratched straight out of the box 2142 installed fine but refuses to Load and I only just got the game....

Hey all, got a big problem; as I was installing my fancy new keyboard and mouse, I dropped my 2142 on the sticky seal of the cd wallet for the mouse/keyboard cd and now it's covered in sticky crap. I've washed as much of it off as possible, but it won't work at all now!

Is there currently a CD crack that works with First Strike because I don't want to have to spend £20 on a game I already own!
