If you're getting modified content errors in vanilla as well, the Launcher has not succesfully switched back the shaders file when First Strike shut down. There are two methods that should fix this.

1) Check your \Battlefield 2142\mods\bf2142 folder for two files, shaders_client.zip.bak and shaders_client.zip. Move the .zip file to \Battlefield 2142\mods\Firststrike. Then rename the .zip.bak file to .zip.

2) Open the Launcher, start Firststrike, then shut it down. The files should have reverted back.

just turn of UAC and reinstall. admin privileges for everything and it should be fine.

Hopefully the smart people here will save the day, the 1.4 update was alot of fun but I wasn't able to play vanilla with a couple friends til I did a fresh install, minus the FS mod - modified content blah blah booey kicked. Also tried all the magic cures in various threads and nothing fixed it, except the new install.

I never had this problem before installing 1.4. There is something wrong with the launcher. It's a nice utility...but it's preventing me and lots of other people from playing. Hopefully the player population doesn't decrease too much because of this.

And yes I know that Imperial is in Germany. Deleting the cache doesn't help.

Hm. If you did find the two files and renamed them accordingly, it should work..
Perhaps try clearing the bf2142 cache. Delete the cache folder in \My Documents\Battlefield 2142\mods\bf2142\

Not neccessarily. If you navigate to where you installed Battlefield 2142 (usually \Program Files\Battlefield 2142\), and from there go to \mods\bf2142, in that folder look for two files called shaders_client.zip and shaders_client.zip.bak. Do you have them? If you do, rename shaders_client.zip to shaders_client.zip.old and then the shaders_client.zip.bak to just shaders_client.zip. Try running 2142 now.

i have been playing FS now without many problems but today i tried to play vanilla 2142, but when i joined a server i got a modified content error. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or if the game just needs to be reinstalled.
