UAC, User Account Control, a security system in Vista that has been known to cause trouble with various applications, FS included. You could try turning it off and see if the crashes remain.

Also, do you experience similar crashes in vanilla 2142?

edit: ah, good that things worked out. have fun with the game yeah Yavin can cause problems for Vista users. I assume you know about the fixes available? If not check the stickied thread in this forum.

just an update since i turned off UAC and restarted my machine the game works fine apart from the battle over yain map but we all know about that!!!

I see you're running Vista. Do you have UAC turned off? And are you running the Launcher as an administrator?

hi guys

im a massive star wars fan and im loving the mod, apart from one thing. I get on perfectly join a server and about 5-10 mins later, while playing, it cuts me to desktop and comes up Firststrike.exe has stopped working. my machine spec is as follows

OP: Windows Vista home premium
BF2142 version: 1.5
FS version: 1.4
Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce 7950 GTX
