Better stick around at least until the Community Games Friday and Saturday . Once you've gotten that taste of what the mod has to offer, you can decide if it's worth it or not.

Oh, and there's a simple way to determine whether or not there's people playing:

If I've got testing or bug hunting to do and can't play: 20+ people on.
If I'm free and want to have a scrap with 20 other players: 0-5 people on and tumbleweeds.

There are alot of players, you just have to play at the right time, unfortunately there are just not enough of us to keep servers going all the time, or people are unwilling to populate a server on their own.

Welcome to the forms Rally.

Safe did a pretty good job of explaining the current situation, but he left out one thing. Sometimes the best way to get a game going is to just hang out in a server for a little while. People (like yourself) often check the servers, see no-one playing, and decide not to play. If you hang out for a bit on an empty server, chances are some people will jump on with you, and you'll get a pretty good game going.

However, if you want to join a guaranteed populated server, we host community games every Saturday on the DS Gaming server.

Do anyone play this? Yes and no.

Yes, people do play this mod. Some time ago there was a thread reporting that 500 unique users had logged on to play FS that week, and that the number was increasing - and you will eventually find people on a server if you just keep trying. Fridays and Saturdays there are Community Games (see relevant thread here) which often draw crowds of 30-40 people.

But no... our numbers are nowhere near those of, say, Project Reality. Several reasons for this have been brought up, but I personally think the main two are that a) the BF2142 community isn't all that big to start with, and doesn't seem too much into playing or making mods, and b) that we had a 'bad start' with lots of stability issues, and this may have given us a bad reputation.

But again, there's still lots of opportunities daily for fun games - keep trying and eventually you'll find 20+ people on. There are more releases coming, too, and I think Hoth especially will draw a lot of people to the mod. Oh, and if you want more people to play, spread the word! Even small things like putting an fsmod.com link in your signature on other forums can make a difference. Starting threads advertising the mod can help, too.

FS is a great mod well-deserving of fame and popularity, and I'm hoping that one day, numbers might just pick up and stay up. Maybe we'll do a port one day, too. Either way, welcome aboard!

I read about this mod on Mod DB, it had one of the awards.
As I do like Star Wars and have BF2142, I installed first strike and went online.
To my surprise, I didn't find a single server.
Later I found out that if If I unchecked one of the filters, I'd get to see about 8 completely empty servers! Is that how it really is or am I not seeing it all?

PS: I just found one player, but still....
