Problem solved. I had to reinstall both games and now it works. Thanks for all your help people.

OK thanks. I'll reinstall Battlefield 2142, get it updated, then reinstall FirstStrike and get that updated too. Unfortunately, that will have to wait until tomorrow. Thanks for the help Talon. The cache thing will wait too.

Sounds like you have deleted the actual file from BF2142, not the one from "My Documents" as I suspected.

I'm afraid you'll have to reinstall BF2142 from scratch and get it up to date, and then install FS.

As I said in the post before, you must remove the cache file in the "My Documents" folder of BF2142, not the actual one in your program folder or where ever.

It is an easy mistake to make. The one you're after holds your profiles and settings rather than the actual game itself.

Something says this: ''Shaders/StacticMesh.fx not found!!! _DO_ check your working directory, _AND_ sync your shaders folder before calling upon your local rendering programmer/GP. (really!)'' That's what happpens when I try to play FS.

Your original problem sounded like you needed to put your view distance to 100%...I may be wrong though.

Well you should have followed instructions the first time GWynzer posted them. You busted your mod, no form of that file by itself exists for download.

You will need to reinstall FS fully, make sure its all deleted and run the installer again.

Go to "My Documents". Not your actual BF2142 folder.

C:\Documents and Settings\(your name or whatever)\My Documents\Battlefield 2142\mods\FirstStrike\cache

If you follow that and delete the files within the cache folder you should be fine.

What did I do!? I deleted it and WIPED it! Ah, I'm an idiot! Now I can't play cause the computer can't find the shaders thing. How do I get it back? This seems very serious. I reinstalled again and that's how I found out about my mistake. Please help me, your my only hope...

go to "My Documents", click on the bf2142 folder, go under mods -> First strike, and delete the cache. Launch your game again, it optimises Shaders.

I can connect to the update server now and I realized that the only maps affected by this problem is Endor and Tatooine. You only put the Jedi and bounty hunters on certain maps, right? Anyway, maybe I should get that shader video setting thing. I mean when you first play Bf2142 it takes longer to load. That thing. Says Optimizing shaders or something like that. Could you please tell me how to access that?
