For the record, I have no administrator nor moderator access for these forums.  Anything that happens to this thread such as deletion, it being locked, it being moved to some hidden part of the forum... has nothing to do with me at all.

I've ATTEMPTED to explain countless times in nicely worded sentences, as have a few others, as to why being commander in a small game (which has one squad) when there are experienced, veteran Squad Leaders (In this case, me) playing has NO point.  *I* (in this case) know what I'm doing. And, bluntly, I *DO* know better than you, just because of experience.  I SL games without commanders repeating orders I've given just fine.  As I was trying to explain, commander of a small team can HURT the team, an extra squad member can mean the difference between a beacon and no beacon, that is the difference between winning and loosing.  YOU can help the team by joining that squad to let them get a beacon!

Instead, today, after getting sick of trying (and sometimes seeming to be totally ignored) to explain it nicely, along with the fact I was dogfighting about the same time, I put it bluntly instead.  It seemed to actually register this time, bluntness is easy to understand, if also easy to offend.

Yes, I am rude, I am blunt, I am pretentious, yup, totally agree - when I need to be.  I am polite, well mannered, helpful - when I need to be.  One of these "Need to be" cases for being nice is to new players.  I am actually constantly helping newbies get used to and play the mod, infact I'm sure a couple of guys who just started playing shortly after you left Yavin today could back me up with that, as could the players who were there.  I do my own work on promoting First Strike and working with other communities to get First Strike more popular, I don't think I would have been appointed to represent FS if I really were as bad as you say I am.

Now, I appreciate the effort you put into playing and promoting First Strike, just like any other person in this community does.  I've sometimes disagreed with the things you've put your effort into (A Teamspeak server when we already had one, which had been lying dormant for months and forgotten about, for example), that happens.  I appluad you for you work, but people are different, you have to expect that not everyone agrees with everything you do all the time.

Now, Tie's post(before editing), even if extreme, raises a point I wasn't going to raise before. I could have easily threatned to or just kicked you from the server if you didn't resign from commander in this incident. I have the power to - hell, I can do whatever I want with that server, instead I tried to explain why being the commander in such a small game was totally unnecessary.

Wow, lots of strong feelings in here. Daddy, if you have a genuine problem with Gwyn, then take it up through PM or email. Airing it like this will just inflame things instead of resolve them, which is exactly what happened. This thread reflects bad on not only the people involved but the community as a whole. Also, starting a new topic when the first one is closed is not a good idea, no matter how important you think the subject is.

And yeah, you could've just talked about this with him privately without making a huge scene. Gwynzer is definitely not one to attack others and is IMO well behaved, especially in the client support subforum.

I've posted recruitment emails all over the StarWars gaming community, hosted FS gamenights for clans I help manage, etc... jump on to populate servers when I can, joined the FS x-fire group, offered up TeamSpeak server hosting for those that prefer it to ventrillo, etc...

I have pretty thick skin, and around here you need it.  You know why?  Ya got pretentious admins like Gwynzer (who tho helpful) can be a real smurf abuser!

Every time I play, or post to try and help YOU (yeah you admin Gwynzer) either make me feel like a douche for trying to help or flat out pose as a know-it-all goober.  You act like YOUR 12years OLD!

So, the reason the community may not be getting popular (even though I LOVE the mod and really enjoy playing) - when you got a bossy, frag-meister like Gwynzer killing your pie and making you feel stupid - I doubt most would come back.

The only reason I'm still playing is because it's excellent work, a fun game and 80% of the time I play (non-community nights) Gwynzer isn't there to ruin it.

My suggestion is that YOU Gwynzer specifically take a chill pill (and a reality check) and stop being such a rude, pretentious know it all that makes people that play this mod feel like it's by your great kindness you allow us to play.

As for the 15+ players I've tried to introduce to this mod... ZERO return because of their unpleasant experiences with the "more advanced" players in the server...
