I didn't see anyone around to maintain the CG yesterday after the server crashed... instead we started back at the start of the rotation, back on the maps designed for small playercounts.  Alot of people actually left because of that, including me.  Thinking back, I didn't even see the CG settings get turned off yesterday, I had to wait around for hours for Omen to come online and switch them back to normal.  I hope we aren't getting the same maplist as yesterday, it gets boring with two of the same rotation in a row!

Just wanted to add: Sorry about this, won't happen again.  My computer got completly screwed over Saturday afternoon and I've had to format (just finishing up now) so I was unable to sort out the server as planned.

*mutters about being gone for a couple days and everything going to hell*

Commanding in FS is NOT like commanding in 2142. The same system, but has different effects.  Small team, competent Squad Leaders? Join a squad, let them get a beacon - it HELPS the team. They know how to squad lead just like you know how to command, and a team of one squad doesnt need a commander AND a squad leader.

Second, apologies to Gwynzer for making my disatisfaction with his behaviour public.  I DID intend to bring it to light with those in charge of running this mod (for which I believed you were one), but did not mean to fester any further complications you're having with the FirstStrike leadership team.

The bottom line is this... I would like to PROUDLY tote the acomplishments of the fine team that put this MOD together and bring more folks into the game so we can regularly populate the servers - making it more FUN for all.

However, Gwynzer said it himself best... Gwynzer: "Yes, I am rude, I am blunt, I am pretentious, yup, totally agree -"

Frankly, that type of attitude is a complete turn-off to most (if not all) new players and the primary reason I think many don't return.  DS hosts most of the community nights for which we a get good turn out... and new players that don't know folks here experience unbalance play and rude admins - which is a shame.

THAT is specifically why I chose to speak out on Friday.  Please, feel free to browse through ALL of the forum posts on this site and you'll get a feel for the type of RUDE, PRETENTIOUS attitude that many of us have been subject to.  Which, by the way, is VERY counterproductive.

Now... this whole "COMMANDER" thing in FirstStrike... Yeah, I wish the Commander position had more assests to help the field and hopefully some are on the way (I'll enjoy the MOD regardless).  But I am NO NOVICE at Commanding... simply check C3-DaddyO's  2142 STATS - www.2142-stats.com/C3-DaddyO+Ranking.html  and check it out for yourself...  At one time (about a year ago when I was still playing regularly), I was ranked one of the TOP 100 Commanders in the WORLD.  I'm likely still in the TOP 300 even though I haven't played more than 30hours of 2142 in the last 12 months.

I tend to follow GOOD HABITS and issue commands to squads OFTEN.  Most often because the squad leaders have rogue members on thier squad that don't hone in on the objective.  So, I issue another order from the Command screen to AID squad leaders - all they have to do is "page-up" to pass on the order again to thier squad members to try and keep them focused on the objective.  THAT is why I re-issued an order to Gwyzer's squad - 'cause not everone was following his orders.

Now, back to the main point here... I DO NOT have a "professional" issue with Gwyner - frankly he and DS have done wonders for helping the FS community enjoy some pretty fruitful and fun evenings.  Nor do I question his value as a knowledgeble contributor.   Simply, his attitude sucks and I believe it turns people off -  me included.

I wouldn't have brought it up had I not believed in this MOD or enjoyed playing the game with the community.

Also, I was not familiar with the in-game customs of First Strike nowadays, as i dont really play a lot.

I shall just file it under "My experiences playing FS" and never think about it again.
