AFIAK are the "mines spotted" voice overs is already in the
bf2142\mods\FirstStrike\sounds_client.zip
-> player_spotted_enemyminespotted.ogg

IMHO it would be possible to call that soundfile over the selection menu of the commrose (press Q and then right mousekey to select).

Pro: Quicker than Teamspeak, 3D Soundsample from the direction of the speaker even for players not in the squad or teamspeak channel

Con: No Red Mine Symbol on the minimap, only a red "?"

To place the mine symbole on the minimap the spotting system must IMHO interact with the red tag of the mine - AFIAK there is no red tag for enemy mines.

I thought you were talking about space mines XD

Not a bad idea, tho we don't have voice actors to record new stuff, it would probably have to be just visual on the map.

well... remove the "Enemy Droid" in the q spotted menu. I don't think they CAN be spotted... probe droids are enemy vehicle I think... not 100% sure on that.

Either way, I'm sure there are a few commands in the Q-Spotted menu which don't/can't work because the thing its spotting isn't ingame, or can't be spotted... replace it with mines.

I'd like to see the mines spotted thing, pretty useful. Especially yesterday when I saw a mine on top of a hill, sidestepped and went around it for squaddies to charge right through it killing myself and 2 others...

I think it would be very useful if a player could identify enemy mines to his teammates, in the same way that enemy gun emplacements can be spotted. Is this possible?
