As for my problem, reinstalling bf2142 and the mod worked. Though I still get the unmodified content error on vanilla.

Falure. It still returns to desktop at about 3-4 cm (Yes I mesured) from the end of the loading bar.

Vanilla 2142 works perfectly without any problems. I am attempting to fix the problem by inserting a new cache folder into the First Strike folder.

The game should make a folder named "Cache" whenever it "optimises shaders". if it's not making one, thats a pretty big problem suggesting a iffy 2142 install. Reinstall 2142. Just to double check, the folder should be located in:

My Documents/BattleField 2142/Mods/FirstStrike/

I am having a similar problem. When I load into a server, including both space and land maps First Strike stops working and ctd's. I have a cd version of bf2142 with the 1.5 patch. The FS Launcher works fine.

Hmm CRAYOLA, well I think you know by now that the only thing I know about is to go into my documents/battlefield2142/mods/firststrike and delete the folder named cache. Im sure someone more competent then me will tell you but this is worth a shot.

Map Crash

When I attempt to play a game on any land-based map the game crashes to the desktop without an error or even a pause. The space maps seem to work perfectly though. This always happens when the game has gotten to around 80% finished loading the map. Any ideas on how to fix this? I am at latest FS and BF2142 versions. I am currently running on Windows XP. The game was working fine this morning before I went to work.
