The Videocard on the other hand is a X2 modell, that means 2 GPUs on one Card, each of them with 1 GB Ram and a 256 bit interface from the GPU to the RAM.
Such cards can be fast if the Videocard Driver and the game supports 2 GPUs (Crossfire for ATI, SLI by nVIDEA), but in most cases driver support is slow, so that most new games don't use the full power of a X2 card before the next driver update (one <-> two months after a games marketlaunch).

IMHO it's more sensible to buy this card, and use the spared 170$ to buy a newer, faster card in the 200 $ pricerange in two years:

Screens:
Bigger is better, and sizes matters.

Sizes:
TFT Displays have a fixed native resolution:
An old 17" TFT for example 1280 x 1024 pixels, = 1 310 720 pixels your Videocard must render if you want to use this resolution.

Bigger Screens tend to have higher Resolutions:
19 - 21": 1.680 x 1.050 Pixel = 1 764 000 pixels
22 - 28": 1.920 x 1.200 Pixel = 2 304 000 pixels
30"+:      3.840 x 2.400 Pixel = 9 216 000 pixels

The native resolution looks best, higher resolutions can't be used, lower resolutions can sometimes look ugly.
As you see, the bigger your resolution is as more work your Video card has to do.

IMHO the best Resolution for a new TFT is 1.920 x 1.200 Pixels.
First you can view Full HD Videos on your TFT.
Second most actual midrange Video cards are able to render games in this resolution with enough FpS.

You may have noticed that monitors from 22 - 28" are  with 1.920 x 1.200 Pixel.
A 28" can be used as an alternative to your TV, 22" took lesser space and are better to transport.
IMHO try to get a 28" with 1.920 x 1.200 Pixel is the best.

Avoid the latest l33t gaming Hardware, it's overpriced.
A good midrange CPU, 4 Gig RAM and a good midrange Video card with 1 Gig RAM is all you need.

Get Vista 64 bit. Nowadays Vidcards have 1 Gig RAM, if you place a 4 Gig RAM Kit in the computer Vista 32 and XP 32 Bit would only use  2 - 3 Gigs of the RAM.

Don't get the biggest Case, in most cases you don't need so much space for Drives.
If you have kids / roommates / or like to go to lans get a case with lockable front door.
Water cooling is fine to avoid noise, but only if CPU and Video cards are water cooled.
Even with water cooling a good airflow is needed. At least one 120 mm Fan to take out the hot air from the case. A dust filter in the intake is also very important, especially if you smoke or have pets.
Bur more fans doesn't mean always better airflow...

Don't buy / build a over clocked Computer, the increase of power isn't justified by the increase of potential trouble.

Two Hard disks in RAID 0 gives you faster loading times, but two seperate Drives (one for the Windows System,  Games and Applications , the other for your Documents, Pictures, Zips and Vids) are IMHO better.
And don't forget to buy a external HD drive for Backups

Agreed. Its actually quite easy to build a computer that can run Crysis on the highest settings if you do it yourself. People just get screwed on premade computers.
