I just tried the latest WHQL Nvidia drivers. (190+)

They seem to work very well with AA shut off in game, but forced externally through nhancer. I used the nhancer profile from this page and it looks even better.

I had bad artifacts in FS and 2142 with latest drivers (180+). Other games were fine. Looks like various Nvidia cards have this driver prob with 2142.

Seems you can disable AA as above, but instead, I just went back to the older Nvidia driver 175.19 ( I just googled it).

175 seems to be the latest driver that works ok with 2142/FS (and AA).

That got rid of my pretty bad graphics artifacts (looked like constant washed out checkerboard all over screen).

Looks great again now.

Disable AA, force it on "FirstStike.exe" (in your 2142 install folder) in NVidia Control Panel.

They are in 2142 vanilla too... been an issue for over 1 year w/ nVidia 8800GT or better vid-cards and drivers...

It's an nVidia issue, they're aware, but no longer supporting fixes for 2142

NVidia Card + fairly recent drivers? It'll be those. Try out regular 2142 aswell and see if the problem is still in there.

Well, you're no alone. I've gotten those since I upgraded to a 512MB EVGA 8600 GT. They are most noticeable to me when I pan left or right too quickly. I've just never had the time to research/investigate too deeply.

Doesn't affect my gameplay too much since I subscribe solely to the "Leeroy Jenkins" tactic.

K, so as you all know I got a new graphics card lately. It's working just fine, except for these black specks appearing and disappearing in certain places:

Is this a cause for concern? It's fairly distracting as I keep seeing them, as little flickers, and sometimes they move, so I sometimes mistake them for players when I see them out of the corner of my eye.
