Stock speeds are fast enough for your uses Ty. Save the cash from the planned cooler and put it towards some graphics.

I have scrapped the i5, I decided upon this because the 1156 socket might be losing support with the i9s. AMD has confirmed their new stuff will use the AM3 socket, so this is a better investment I believe.

I also get faster RAM with this new set up... Black Friday deals have saved me over a hundred dollars, very glad I have waited this long :]

I do plan on OCing that processor as much as I safely can, [I actualyl plan on OCing everything I can, RAM,CPU,GPUs] so that's why that's there. I really want this PC to run cool, REAL cool. I didn't get a second fan, I got 7. I will be putting 4 on the side panel, 1 up top, and 1 in front.

I just looked into the heatsink further, it appears the fan is inside it, doesn't look replaceable, but it looks legit so all is well.

I will find another place to put the 7th fan, the case has space for 9. Maybe there is space upfront for two.

The case comes with one fan, so nice choice to get a second. I assume you will be moutning this on the rear, so make sure you get it the right way round. The front fan should be pulling air in over the hard drives so you want the rear fan pushing it out. That way the air should come in, over the motherboard heatsinks, past the cpu and out the rear, keeping it nice and cool.

Asus motherboards are excellent products. I have no experience of that particular board, but if its anything like other asus products it should be a good un. I particularly like the easy install blocks that asus provide for the header pins.

The only thing holding you back on that rig now will be the graphics card I think a 700W PSU is slight overkill, but again depends what and how many graphics cards you go for.

I downsized some things, upsized some others. Still no video cards but I can buy those later. This new mobo doesn't have integrated graphics either, but I think it's better and I can borrow a 7800 until then.

Last thoughts?

The best you can do is blow a decent amount on quality components, including a motherboard that gives you headroom for upgrade, but bear in mind next gen CPU's may require different socket types!

As far as whether they all go together, when you are building, just focus on one main component that you know for sure you're going to get (Take for example the motherboard)  then you check the specs for the other parts you're looking at and make sure they will work together. ( Eg. make sure the memory is compatible)

Unless you buy OEM components, all the cables and connectors should be supplied.  You can always look at the pics on the site to make sure it's all included.  (Eg. the CPU should include a small tube of of the thermal transfer paste you need to put between it and its cooling fan - otherwise you'll need to buy that too, but it's cheap.)

One note: When you make your purchase, check the dates on,  and download/print any rebate sheets right away and try to send them out close to purchase, since sometimes they expire soon after purchase and you end up blowing your budget.

Not HAVING a gaming computer to relieve me throughout this process really makes me eager to spend my money...    There isn't even a console in this house... :[
