I did what was suggested, Ati, and it appears to have worked. I used the AT-ST on MosEspa today a lot and it didn't freeze once.

I have given this a try and so far it works, but i won't actually know until... well a sizable amount people get on for me to try this out.

Have you tried setting the audio from hardware to software and disabling EAX in the options? I know I had lots of crashing issues next to walkers mainly thanks to these 2.

nope no AA set in 2142, and i have no problems playing vanilla

I must admit i have had a similar problem before once or twice but only very very sparadic. I can play for months at a time with no issues.

It sounds to me like it would could be a problem your end, do you have ne probs playing 2142?
Also you have nvida, so are you running the game with nvidia anti alias or BF2142 anti alias? Only i believe there is a problem with the latest nvidia drivers which causes BF's AA to go screwy (I have BF's AA off and nvidia's set to 4x) I know it sounds unrelated but prehaps sumhow having BF's aa on leaks memory and causes it to crash.

Just thought i would also add that that i have tried uninstall/reinstall of both 2142, and FS and this is happening off of a fresh install.

Same thing happens to me. This occurs most often on 32p Endor Strike Team, 32p MosEspa, and Lok. Like you stated it is often associated with the walker. This didn't happen to me before the last update.

Well I have had this problem since about version 1.25, or so. Sometimes the game will just stop, the most recent sound will begin repeating and the game will not respond, sometimes I can alt+ctrl+delete out of it, but sometimes i just have to do a manual shutdown.

There is no relevant screen shot, because nothing abnormal appears on the screen, it just stops.
A curios side note, after this happening many times I noticed it happens most often around firing AT-STs, and never in space, no idea why.
Other than that There seems to be no pattern to it sometimes i will play for 30 seconds and it will crash, other times it will run for 30 minutes to an hour before crashing.

I have:
2 Gigs of ram (with physical address extension up to 4 Gigs)
Gforce 8800GS (most recent drivers)
Pentium D 3.0ghz
Microsoft windows XP SP:3 Media Center edition

this was the reason i stopped playing a while back, and i hope someone can help with this admittedly vague problem
