It's not broken. Sounds like you got the install right. Try joining a couple of unlocked servers to be sure.

There are only a few servers right now. (I expect some people are waiting until the next release before they fire theirs up again?. )

You can usually find people on the on in the evenings (UK time).
Just hop on a server and familiarize yourself with all the bots, weapons and ships. (I definitely recommend trying out the Lambda Shuttle for the first time without any eyewitnesses around. )

Most times others will join after a short while. But you are usually guaranteed a nice crowd on the weekends for the Community Games. - Hopefully things will get much more crowded after the impending release.

All the released maps are included in the mod. You are likely trying to connect to the FS Testing server, which is used for testing beta/unreleased content.

One other thing. Where can I find more maps for this game. It seems I'm missing some maps when trying to connect to some servers.

Well maybe so but I don't think that's it. We installed it on a newer pc a week ago with win 7. AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+ . 6 Gb memory . geforce gts 250. The same thing happened with BF 2142 & First Strike. only MP...no SP.
I've looked around on the internet on different forums but I can not find the answer. Also as I said before when I make my own server in Local just to try it, it stops just before the game is about to start. Weird....

If you can't play SP on 2142 then I can only guess that your system requirements, while good enough for MP, cannot handle SP. Remember that in singleplayer as well as rendering the map the game must also render and calculate the movements of all bots.

Ok now I can see the servers...thank you. But why is it that i only can play online on BF 2142 and not singleplayer, the same thing happened when I tried the singleplayer addon for First Strike. It crashes to desktop just before the map is about to load. I have win xp and the specs are more than enough for this game.

I have installed BF 2142 and First Strike and all the latest patches. But the server list is empty. And when I make my own server the map loads ok but when I want to start it crashes to desktop.
