What's up First Strike forum?  I can't believe I'm seeing this mod for the first time.  I was big into Galactic Conquest years ago and thought a similar mod wouldn't come out based on the fact that I couldn't find one for BF2.  I'm curious how much of the GCDEV team is working on this.  I see JayBiggs is working on this and I believe I remember him from the GC team.  I don't even own BF 2142 but I'm digitally purchasing it now so I can try this out when I get home.  I'm really excited about this so, this is my initial thanks to the FS team

I promoted an idea to them to make a special BF2142/First Strike branch, but I haven't the fondest clue if they will be into that.....Anyways, yeah. I'm trying to encourage a branch to be formed for this mod and BF2142

If they already pay subscription fees... they can afford 10 euros to play this mod, and you get 2142 free into the bargain!

Admittedly, 2142 is an OLD game now. If people have any of the problems I experienced, then for many their DVD may be shot as well. I went through two disks over the years playing FS. Thankfully EA actually did something decent, I contacted them, explained the situation, gave them my CD keys and account details as proof....and they gave me a free online edition

I too would love to see a 64p server packed out again (nothing and I mean NOTHING beats Taloraan on a maxed out server. Most epic space battles EVER!) but the age of the game and peoples reluctance to try it out suggest its unlikely to happen.

I will be sure to promote that event in our guild's 'Other Games' section, by the way. I hope at least some members will be excited about it. I've even covered this mod, well...honorably mentioned it....in one of my newsletters that I did for our guild. So maybe a few people caught an eye of it.

...that some community members are looking into, to entice new players in and add that extra element of roleplay which is so suited to our game style and the Star Wars universe as a whole.

Other things to consider is just spreading the word. Word of mouth is a powerful tool, so get out there and tell everyone how much you love First Strike, promote the hell out of it and lets get those servers filled again.

Like KingZope up there, I have been a GC player a long time ago. Played quite a bit of the Battle of Hoth map on the net. I would always get owned, of course, but it was fantastic nonetheless, ah the memories. So you could say I was an original GC player.

When I found out about First Strike among the first announcements, I was just.....really happy. I've always loved Star Wars on a grand scale like you guys have made it.

Same here. GC was a whole other level of gameplay even compared to bf 1942, I mean space battles with boarding action, massive vehicles that you could walk around in. It was really something.

I came as quickly as I could when I saw there was a mod for the new bf, if I remember correctly it was in development before 2142 was out, although I may be wrong.

Anyway I think the project has been getting better and imo like GC the best parts were the 'epic' ones. Like First strikes newest tatooine map they have included the sandcrawlers which act as a moving bastion around a huge map and the lambda shuttles which can hold a squad and more. It just insites the fighting together aspect and the fun that ensues is limitless. Simialarly I can remember how epic jabbas palace was on GC with the barges etc and I think if I can recall bobas vette was on there? Anyway FS is getting better and better and I literally can't wait for the hoth map to come out, hoth was probably my favourite part int he films and is always my favourite thing to play in sw games.

The only problem is the player base is a bit weak, I do hope though that the coupling of the release of the new patch and I think the release on steam? Will bring more 2142 players which wil eventually become intriguiged and awe struck at first strike, ha! I mean back when first strike was in the early stages there was always a full server and a half full backup server its sad to see any of their servers empty at any time tbh!

When playing GC long ago, when there were more of the developers around, I loved seeing blaster fire zoom across the plains of the surface of Hoth or exchanging in tight corridors of an Imperial Star Destroyer. Seeing X-wings and TIE Fighters duke it out in space as I'm manning a laser defense turret on a capital ship. Y'know, the works? The immersion that First Strike brought is just breathtaking. I feel like I am back in the good 'ol days of GC, but in a much more modern era. Sure, I love the Battlefront 1 and 2 games, but there's something that's missing in those two games by Pandemic. The team here brought back the thing I love most about Star Wars. The immersion of being on a grand battlefield. Sure it's fun in other games being a main character, such as Luke Skywalker, but look to the men and women other than him. The brave Rebel soldiers that fought along side him. The ones who helped make those operations possible. Look to the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps. and TIE Pilots who assisted Vader in fighting the Rebellion. The forces on both sides who can also make a difference, not just the main heroes of the saga.

I've registered here awhile back. I did share a few ideas and suggestions awhile back, but...they weren't entirely ideas you guys were going for. And that's understandable. Looking back at my suggestions, I wouldn't go for those anyways, because you fine lot are trying to capture the full feeling of the Galactic Civil War...in which this mod was all about...not the Clone Wars as I had so blindly suggested. Everyone these days go for the Clone Wars, but they forget that the Saga started with the original trilogy. The feeling you all are trying to capture on a fantastic scope and are definitely succeeding with.

My truthful compliments aside, I realized something. I should really get back into playing online. You guys looking to have another player? I could supply my name(s) in-game if you all want. Just to tally another FS player to play with online.

KingZope, I hope this isn't seen as hijacking. Just thought I'd relate my thoughts along side yours, since we probably played GC on the same server at one point.
