Re: hoth_canyon

I'll wait for a resident lore master Talon to stop having a spitting fit and recover long enough to post some remarks on the lore issues behind the map tongue

That aside, I know its a first map and everyone starts somewhere. Personally, I hate doing ground maps, guess I'm just too lazy to paint and sculpt the terrain.

The issue you have, is that if you want custom stuff then yes its possible to make things yourself, but you then have to make sure everyone downloads and installs those custom statics as well as the map.

Re: hoth_canyon

The walls are not side specific they are found on rev var. and one would have to assume that the rebels had captured some imperial command centers. As for the reason I used walls and not trenches is that trenches would make less sense with vehicles and there were no rebel vehicles that you saw episode 5

Re: hoth_canyon

But there are trenches in the movie.

Also, defending the trenches:
1) They're good cover.
2) They're meant for defense and counter what the Imps might throw at them. It doesn't matter if the Rebels have any vehicles or not.
3) Walls might attract to much attention (especially if they're made of unnatural materials (read: not snow or ice)). Trenches are somewhat smaller and harder to see and detect. Also, they don't stand out that much - from a distance, it's harder to see a hole than a wall. And don't forget: the Rebels came to Hoth to hide, regroup and resupply, not to fight. That's why when they were attacked by the Empire, their first thought was to run. The second - to fight and buy enough time to run.
4) If the Rebs had walls, they'll put them around the bases and critical instalations, not in a valley, where the Imps might pass... or not.

Of course, the final call is yours. You're designing and making the map, not me.

Re: hoth_canyon

what i was trying to say is that there is no cover for vehicles. and i understand point 3. but no walls MIGHT ruin the map.

Re: hoth_canyon
