Re: hoth_canyon

i've placed all the object spwaners. i could give you a list of them if anyone would like

Re: hoth_canyon

I'd advise perhaps making it another location other than Hoth. Part of the reason they were there, and what made it was so hard to locate them was that there were no signs of intelligent life on the surface of the planet, other than their Power Generator (Whoops, I guess they'll have to work on hiding that too next time). Walls and the like on the surface would change all that. So I don't think your map layout is a good fit for Hoth. Perhaps if you had trenches instead of walls maybe. Also if you're talking about using T1-Bs they weren't on Hoth either, so that again would be a problem. Crack on with it though, be interesting to see what you come up with.

Re: hoth_canyon

Jackroy, I'll recommend you Fest. It's a planet where the Imperials have built some Weapons Research Facilities: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Fest

It's shown in the games Dark Forces and Rogue Squadron (both for PC), so you have some reference and also it have variable terrain. In the Dark Forces it's canyon, so if you want one you can have it and in the Rogue Squadron is the more traditional plains and hills. And it's snowy, just like Hoth and your map.

So, what do you think?

P.S. But in this case you'll have to make at least some changes. At the very least, you should swap the CPs since the Imperials are now the defending force.

Re: hoth_canyon

thank you for helping but i was talking to Gwynzer and he suggested Polus it was attacked by the empire in empire at war and it is also a ice planet. i'm reworking the story to fit Polus i'll put it up soon. still thank you

Re: hoth_canyon

Polus wasn't an ice planet, it's just "cold".   However, if you change the map so it's Imperials defending, a lot more options open up, as Imperials had quite a few facilities on ice/snow/cold planets.

Re: hoth_canyon

As a first map mate, I'd just advise you not to think about the backstory at all at this point. Just decide what you want on your map, and what the objective is. Once it's all done, then perhaps think of a story and make that fit the map, rather than trying to make a map fit your idea of whats happened.

Polus is VERY "cold" if it's 50 degrees below 0 (no big matter if it's C or F). So I'm not sure if the depiction of the planet in the game is exactly right (some flora in the pictures in the Wookipedia). But if the base is near or at the equator, then, I guess, it's be OK. Especially if it's the "warm" part of the season.

But if you make the base northern/southern than the equator, then you should be fine. Also, ask the devs on how to do a blizzard or snow storm once you finish the rest (or let them do it). It will be fun to have a random one (one moment the sky is clear, a minute later the whole area is in the middle of a blizzard), as long as the devs know how to make it.
