Also, once again, interestingly, at the panel at Celebration where this news was revealed, a little video teaser was shown that had the crowd going mental, so I'm curious as to what that could have been at this early stage. This plot should certainly make for an interesting movie though.

It was just a CGI clip they threw together, likely nothing they will even use for the movie. You can find it on youtube by now I'm sure.

I'm not too hyped for Rogue One but it is early days still.

More Battlefront news:

There are 4 planets(5 if you count the Jakku add-on) with multiple maps making use of those locations. DICE verified that there would be more maps than 8 and more than 2 maps per planet. Quite disappointing but understandable given that A: Fleshing out a location to the level of detail they have is expensive and B: There were only so many land battles in the original trilogy to draw from. We kind of had the same issue as B when making First Strike. The dev who posted this info made it sound like it was a firm fact on how many planets there will be in the initial game but I suppose there could still be room for a Deathstar map or something...

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

The planet the new Stormtroopers are on, with the red flag, looks Hoth like, but it's probably just another Ice planet. I think that the movie shows great promise, I know that I will be seeing it as soon as it comes out.

As for battlefront it looks cool, but I haven't seen anything on the game play that they've come up with, we'll see more as we get closer to December. I'm probably going to have to upgrade my computer if I want anything near the graphics that they show in the trailer... If it looks good enough to buy, which is very probable.

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

Not sure it's Hoth. In the first trailer Kylo Ren is walking through a snowy wood. Does Hoth have woods? Dunno.
Also, is Hoth the go to planet for hidden bases? lol

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

So Battlefront...

The AT-AT's are on rails and don't seem to be pilotable. I imagine this is for 2 reasons: 1. "What will happen if the pilot gets stuck in some trees or the AT-AT rolls on its side?" 2. DICE's engines still can't seem to hack it when it comes to players walking around on moving vehicles.

Recently it was revealed that there won't be iron sights in the game. Scoped weapons will work as you would expect though.

Not sure if serious...will wait until E3. I bought SWBF2 again on steam hoping I might like it now. Nope. LOL. Really chunky shallow game imo. I guess it would have been more enjoyable playing it on a console when it came out. I'm still hoping DICE was brave enough to change the Battlefront formula.

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

Yeah, I'm really upset about the weapon sights and AT-ATs. Not allowing ADS is just dumb in this day and age, and implementing fully destructible environments would solve potential issues with drivable AT-ATs getting stuck, but DICE has chosen to implement that "where appropriate"... I'm hoping this is just limited to the Walker Assault mode.

Part of the problem is the legions of rabid Battlefront fans who are up in arms over the possibility DICE's new Battlefront is going to be nothing more than a Battlefield re-skin (which blows my mind; we could only be so lucky), and DICE is well aware of it. So they're trying to cater to the old school Battlefront fans while simultaneously trying to make it unique, and I believe they're missing a great opportunity to evolve the series into something more. Something deeper. Battlefront could benefit immensely from taking several notable gameplay ques from the Battlefield series.

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

The strange thing is, it seems neither audience is happy with how the game is being portrayed. It seemingly isn't Battlefronty enough for SWBF fans and isn't Battlefieldy enough for BF fans. Time will tell. Once we see some real gameplay it might just surprise us all. smile
