Re: The Future of Star Wars?

Words can't describe how incredibly pumped I am for TFA. If Youtube's replay button was something tangible, I would've broken it from over use yesterday. XD

I love the new X-wing, flight suit and Stormtrooper designs, and I'm really digging the new saber, too.

Oh, man I can't wait!

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

The Stormtrooper suits and x-wings look good, the new lightsaber design looks like it would be hard to use in the same way that other lightsabers have been used in the past, but it will probably look better when we see it in action. Looks very promising.

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

I think I watched it over ten times at this point. I'm really getting a good feeling from this one. I actually loved the new lightsaber design, and the pulsing blade has a shoddy, cobbled together vibe going for it. Perhaps the new villain is awakening to the force? I get the impression that the Jedi Order was never rebuilt, and the title suggests that both darkside and lightside practitioners will be returning to the greater galactic scene.

Edit: Plus, the new stormtrooper design is amazing! Love that they are keeping the OT vibe in this one (The x-wings being only slightly modified really made me smile)

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

On the subject of the X-Wing redesign, next generation design,  T-65_2.0  or whatever, I hadn't noticed how the wings split in such an unusual way, had to do a freeze frame just a frame before that scene ends to get the full close up shot of the new X-Wing. The split engine intake is obviously based on the original McQuarrie concept art for the X-Wings that were first drawn up for Star Wars, but the way the wings split up is new and interesting.

In fact if you look back at the J.J. Abrams Force for Change video below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWBGrkc360M

...which featured the life size prop of the new X-Wing you can see some of the wing details given away here which hint at the different wing split config seen in the trailer, no split in the leading edge of the wing for one, and another interesting addition is a slight downward curve to the front wingtip, and I'm guessing an upward curve for the tail end which allows enough space to mount the traditional 4 blaster cannons. An interesting design tweak to the already iconic X-Wing, different, but still very much familiar, I like it.

cool

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

And on another lighter note, here are a couple of the best trailer parodies doing the rounds, some really quite impressive considering how fast they came out after the trailer was released.

Enjoy.

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

Yeah, I really dig how the S-foils separate on the new X-wing. The whole design looks like a legitimate evolutionary leap forward on the old T-65 design. I love it.

And the new Stormtroopers look so damn slick. Badass.

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

That trailer made me feel younger at almost 4 decades incarnate, than anything I've ever witnessed. Regardless of the overall opinions, the opening scene of the first star trek remake with Papa Kirk was worthy of billions of playbacks alone.

                                      I believe.
