Re: At Last! DICE to make the new SWBF!!!

From the gameplay footage I've seen so far they need to find a way to curb the use of jet packs or it'll feel more like you're playing Quake than Star Wars Battlefront.

Yeah, that was actually a serious problem in Walker Assault on Hoth. As soon as the match started, Rebel players would use them to get to a specific vantage point that you couldn't without them, and just spawn kill the living hell out of Imperial players 'til they won.

It didn't help that they were out of the AT-AT's line of fire, and that the AT-STs were incredibly fragile.

Needless to say, when that happened, the matches were pretty short.

Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

Re: At Last! DICE to make the new SWBF!!!

That certainly sounds like an issue that needs resolving. Couldn't you call down an orbital strike on the location if people were dug in up there in a spot you couldn't get to? Either way they need to put some kind of limitation on the use of the jet pack, something similar to you have to be in a squad with so many members before the asset becomes available, or there be a limited number of pick up items like the way First Strike deployed it's jet packs. I know this won't happen because they'll just have people complaining that it is unfair and everyone needs a jet pack.

Re: At Last! DICE to make the new SWBF!!!

Unfortunately, no. There were a few problems with successfully calling an orbital strike on them. First, you couldn't get a good line of sight because their position was so high (you have to use the macro binoculars or AT-AT), there was a lot of area up there for them to move out of the way, and you'd usually get picked off if you ventured out to find a better position. A few guys would slip through now and then (myself included), but never enough to make a difference.

The small mountain players use to do this is pretty close to the Rebel spawn point, too. So even if they respawn back at base, it was fast and easy for them to get back to their position.

Access to the jetpacks definitely need to be limited and to a lesser extent, the portable shields. I also feel the map needed to be altered a bit so it wouldn't accommodate this tactic so readily.

I like the jetpacks and all, but if everyone is running around with one equipped, it takes away from that "Star Wars feeling" and muddles up the gameplay. Same goes for the portable shields.

Well, when the Beta comes out we should try and see if we can play some matches together. Would be fun!
