Are you going to come up with a new name for the game or will it be called First Strike or Battlecry? If you need some help I should be able to help out with testing, I've also done some programming with C Sharp, not sure if that would help any with the Unreal 4 Engine.

How about Battle Strike?  But seriously, a name change has been suggested, but nothing decided yet.

The unreal editor does a lot of the work, using templates.  C++ is used to extend beyond the template limits when needed.   So, a programming background is helpful, but not necessary.   Now is the time to sign up to join the team.  Just hop over to www.swbattlecry.com and hit the apply button in the forums.

I strongly suggest that we start sharing this news.We need a strong and good public.

Re: First Strike and Battlecry merger

Is there going to be a main site, where most talk about the game takes place?

How long is it going take to move all the First Strike models over to the new engine?

www.swbattlecry.com is the main site for the Star Wars game on the Unreal engine.

We are early in the process of learning how to use the Unreal editor.  We haven't developed a workflow process for porting yet, so we can't say how long it will take.

Re: First Strike and Battlecry merger

Interesting. Good luck. Will be cool to see some of the FS models in the shiny new engine

Check out these test exports of Echo Base on Hoth to UE4 at the end of the news post:

http://www.fsmod.com/index.php?xnewsact … rch=122014

Talon has most of Echo base set up in MAX and is working on exporting to UE as he has time, which is limited ATM.   It would be very helpful to get whatever original models we can from old FS devs in max format.  Importing into max from the First Strike has issues.   The import Battlefield tool plugins only work with versions up to max 9 and it's not a clean process.  The models lose some formatting in the process and need to be cleaned up.   The textures have to be fixed up as well.   Then in order to get the model into UE4 from max 9, obj format is the only model that works but, so far without textures and sometimes the x,y,z settings are mixed up so the model ends up on it's side.   Now, saving the file as a max 9 file and then reading that into a more current version of 3ds max allows the file to be exported into a FBX file that is compatible with UE4, but that is a complicated process.    So, getting the models in the original max format would help a lot.
