People that despise arty are probably like my dad... always by themselves in the middle of an arty attack from there own commander, they don't use the "M" key. Arty is def a really good part of BF2, and probably BF2142 as well...

well the tiebombers thing is arty i think.... anyways mabey ywings for the rebels
but if its possible mabey make the rebels have stationary on some maps (then the big rebel cannon vehicle thing from empire at war could be used)

like lets say in one battle the imps have control of space (tatooine mabey?) so they get airstrikes
meanwhile rebels dont have any spaceships nad instead they use ground artilery?

would be interesting....

and when u spawn it it comes with 2 scout droids

There was artillery in G.C., in the form of mobile artillery units. They worked the same way as the artillery in Vanilla BF 1942.

But yes, it should be map-specific and simply left out in most cases. Meaning that there should be no artillery on Hoth, for example, as we know there was no artillery in action there.
