Re: 3rd Side

They don't all have to be thugs, how about some helpless civilians as a third class? Might add to the realism seeing other people in the city unlike in GC's Mos Eisley where you lucky to even see an enemy.

Re: 3rd Side

I was thinking that same thing. Its pretty dang daring for a battlefield game. I doubted it will ever really see civilians, unless what your proposing works. But it really depends on how the ai works. What I'd really like to see is a building based system, where several civilians (maybe women and children) scream when they see you [whatever side you may be on] and run, while some of the civilians might be old shot gun (or the star wars equivelant) toting men that shoot at you if you shoot first. It would be especially neat if they could be programmed to protect teh unarmed people, or at least all hang out in their house to make it appear that they're hiding.
This brings up an intresting thing. Good and badnesses. Probally something you'd never consider for a battlefield game. But if this kind of ai for civilians IS possible than it would leave the player with teh question of, whether to shoot at them or not. FS could incorparate a Good/Bad meter in your stats. It could be medal based, where every time you kill an innocent you get a 'dark side' medal. And they add up of course, with the little number beneath them (like how the gold/silver medals work). Perhaps they may even be able to rig it so that you have a set number of light side medals that are removed every time you get a dark side one. Perhaps you could earn ligth side medals by healing wounded civies.
Just tossing stuff out there. I'd LOVE to see civies. But I'm not entirely sure the ai can do it.

Ah, who didnt love pwning ewoks in endor for free kills?

Im all for cantina AI.  Seems like a good idea... hey I just remembered, can you have more than 64 players in a mod online? Or is that hardcoded?

Re: 3rd Side

If you make the civilian AI think players are all tanks even if the player is on foot and there are no explosives in the civilians kits then they would always run away from players.

Good idea. It would really add to the experience, but now that I think of it also the lag and system strain.

Re: 3rd Side

I think we should only have people/things in the Cantina. If civilians can be shot at, it may bring ethics into question from outside people, and may bring bad public. I don't think any of us would report First Strike, but a random person playing may. Report as in, going to their local peace group.

Re: 3rd Side

I wouldn't worry bout that. Few peaceniks play bf. wink Besides, I like the sound of an ethics meter. Perhaps the scale could max out at 100 for both the dark an light sides. Reachin 100 at either could earn ya a 'follower of the dark/light' badge.
