Re: Fighter maneuverability in a 0g environment

The ROK  mod was good but in this type game i like the star wars type ^^; and good to see the Dev teams dedication in this

Re: Fighter maneuverability in a 0g environment

The ROK team could have done a far better job with their controls, all without making players remap their keys.

Ok I've got the inside scoop on what we're actually going to do in regards to-

-NO! NO! It's not my time! The red light in my hand can't possibly be flashing! I'm too young to go! Nooooooooo! he screamed as he was carried away into a retro sci-fi referance

Hehe. Seriously though, I think we'll be doing Star Trek terrestrial type flight physics in a 0g environment rather than newtonian physics like in BSG. Basically something along the lines of the craft flying like planes but without friction or gravity, and with less drag.

Arrgh, yar... arr ar arrgh!

Re: Fighter maneuverability in a 0g environment

Honestly, in Star Wars it doesn't seem that they're with no gravity. They seem as if they're just futuristic jets. I mean, when they stop, it's not like they keep floating....

The RoK beta didn't have a good feel to it, as you were just flying all over the place... A perfect example would be that flash game where you have a little space craft and you have to hold down space and launch onto like little pads... But, you'll run out of gas! (Hopefuly you know what I'm talking about).

Personaly, I think you should have it feel exactly like the UD-6 Talon/Type 4 Doragon. I mean seriously, does that not feel like a Snowspeeder? That's 100% exactly identical to how I imagined the Snowspeeder piloted.

Hopefuly someone knows exactly what I'm talking about...

Re: Fighter maneuverability in a 0g environment

Suffice to say, itl be more SW than BSG wink

Good. Star Trek uses guidance and propulsion thrusters all over their craft for 'plane like' flying experiences and navigation.  Also +10 to Woodrow for having Captain Picard in his avater!

Hey, you got your Star Wars in my Star Trek!!
