Re: S-Foils?

yeah, that's cheap for bf1942, even if you just want to play GC with it.  Besides there are other good mods that are still played regularly. Forgotten Hope comes to mind. I don't know if anyone plays the Pirates mod anymore, but that was fun too. smile

So yeah, I would say it's worth it.
Not for me though. I'm way too busy making FS to play games. tongue

Back on topic, I think, maybe, we can implement the s-foils kinda like weapons. You select them from a list just like missiles and MG in the planes in bf2. That way, they are easily accessable and we can control whether or not you can fire with them depending on their position. I don't know for sure if that's the way it will be implemented, but that makes the most sense to me.

That sounds very good. Nice to see that you already got some ideas on it. smile

Re: S-Foils?

Maybe it would be possible just to simplify the S-Foil concept and tie an animation of them closing to the 'sprint' (shift) key.  You hit sprint in an X-Wing and your S-foils close, the lasers are disabled and you get a speed boost.

A very simple, Rogue Squadron-esque way of handling things.

Good, but is it possible? (CODERS, COME FORTH!)

Re: S-Foils?

This is what I had proposed to SCHRifle before he went away, and I believe hed accomplished all but the non-firing part.  I'm not sure, but I thought we had that worked out over on the editor forums.  I don't want to make any promises, but I think this is probably how we will be approaching the S-Foils, aside from landing gear animations.

Dunno if it is possible to make it so you can't shoot while your landing gear is down, but that would simplify some things.  I'm sure some pythoneering would be able to fix this issue.

Re: S-Foils?

Using the Sprint Mode for closing S-Foils would be cool, too. As long as weapons can be disabled in this mode it would not have to be restricted and would give a pilot no advantage if you make the craft less manouverable as long as the sprint mode is activated.
