The Black Sun weren't known for using brute force though. They operated in the Shadows, and used greed, corruption, and money to spread their influence.

Like I said in another post somewhere, using a well known pirate group is a much better alternative. Pirates had members up to 15,000, and used all kinds of blackmarket weapons, capships, fighters, etc.
