Re: Space Suits

This thread made me picture little automated repair robots floating around in space repairing capital ships. I don't know why.

We discussed this idea back when the Warp mod was still alive (R.I.P.). We figured the best way to do it would be to simply make the Zero-G suit a space vehicle, such as the bulky one in X-Wing Alliance.

We had all these neat ideas like different weapons or tools for these space suit vehicles, and pictured scenes where clusters of mechanics in space suits repaired the outsides of capital ships, or boarding parties delivered into the other team's hangar by means of space suits from delivery vehicles. Board delivery vehicle carrying space suits (the way a carrier carries fighter planes), get in the suits, "take off", land in enemy hangar/air lock/whatever, disembark from space suit, fight.

But then again, space-walking seems to be next to non-existent in Star Wars, so I digress.

, their could be an little airlock position of the ship that functioned exactly like the pod launcher on the 2142 apcs, except instead of launching a pod, it launches a little vehicle space suit with a fusion cutter so u could float over and repair the ship's individual parts outside (shields, turrets, etc.) if the devs choose to have those.

I was just thinking of that cute little Correlian repair vehicle in GC. What was it called, the YT-600? 300? Ah, memories smile .
