WEll I installed it.... IT gave me an error told me to reinstall.. I did and still error.... so I am redownloading from another source... lets see how it goes smile

if you get "d3dx9_29.dll missing" or something along those lines,
get the d3dx9_29.dll's. available in installers.

That was the problem for me. Updating directX might do the trick too since the d3dx9_29.dll file is from the february dx update which for some reason alot of people don't have.

Its kinda boring compared to the beta, as the unlock really made the game. I hope they include an unranked mode with everything unlocked.

The map, Sidi Power Plant, doesn't seem very good either. There's way too many choppers in both modes, which means everyone gets spread out way too much. Verdun had one of each chopper, which was much better (they respawned quickly).

As to the changes - support can fire for longer but is less accurate than beta 2. Sniper has a lot less sway, making it more manageable. I can't test it, but I swear the walking speed is slower, and the sprint definately seems less.

Attack choppers are quite good now. Solo-piloting them makes them pretty much anti-air only, like jets. Hover mode is more stable, and you can strafe very fast. Havnt had a chance to gun properly yet.


Anyway, lets all add each other to the buddy list and pwn those noobs!

Atleast it plays abit better than the beta did ( suppose you would expect that but still tongue ) , and im still disappointed in the power of the weapons sad ( Me and another guy nearly wasted all our ammo on each other in a fire fight ,we werent exactly far away from each other either lol )

I'll add you to buddy list.

Weapons now do much more similar damage, the difference is range. Have a look at the stats on bf2142.com

Essentially, past a certain range, your gun becomes weak and inneffective. The SMGs do more damage than the assault rifles (as do the pistols), but they lose power much sooner (pistol is 8m, SMG 13, LMG 15 (although they dont lose much power), assault rifle 35. Those distances vary depending on which side or unlock you use, but thats roughly it for all the guns.)

The entire class balance has now changed. Assault were best at close range in BF2. Now they work better at anything over 15-20m, when nobody else does as much damage. Support are generally better at long range, as their damage only drops by 4 even at 60m. However, at under 15m they do extra damage. SMGs now rule at 10m or less, and will beat assault rifles.
