Blah Blah. You've seen how nasty politics can get. Can you tell me why the democrats didn't add any of these 'facts' to their mud slinging arsenal?

Blah blah?  These are not " 'facts' " ..these are FACTS.

And what country are you from Demonic? I'm sure that yours isn't the perfect jewel of the world that has everything going for it or is ruled by perfect individuals whose first goal is to their country.

And I'm sure that you thought of yourself as being pretty clever to come up with that.

It is kinda Ironic tho. GWB is one of 1st,if not the 1st, Presidents ,in US history, to actually have King-esque powers. Afterall, your laws are not the constitution anymore..they are down to what GWB etc decide. (PA and MCA)

Re: Habeus Corpus - rip

Oh come on thats redicilous! See how much Bush gets done after November 7th (assuming the republicans lose). The constitution remains firmly glued together. Can someone please explain to me why ENEMY COMBATANTS should have the right to be tried in a civil court?! Yes, the president is the most powerful man in the world. And yes he is using that power to protect america as best as he can. He makes stupid dessicions sometimes, Iraq possibley being one of them (still can't sort that one out for myself...working on it) but I know he has slightly better intel than me. He is doing what he believes necesary to protect us. He'll be gone when his terms up, then half of programs will be axed. He holds incredible power yes. But he is far less dominating than many of our presidents.
Lets look at FDR for a moment. FDR for instance was one of our greatest presidents by far. Most americans would agree to that.
-FDR was in a wheelchair. His authority was pushed over the journalists NOT to photograph him in his wheelchair, because it was deemed it would cause americans to think their great leader weak. This was sound logic if you ask me, but some could say he selfishly usedhis power becuase he didn't want to come across weak.
-FDR had the Japenese people rounded up. This is something I think was insanely overboard. Never the less, he believed this was necesary for security, and thats teh only reason he did it. They where let go after the war.
-He was THE leader. He had redicilous control over everything. But we were at war, and it was understood that these things would be temporary.
FDR as one of our greatest presidents, by far. He was very powerful, just like Bush. But he didn't and never intended to use it to take over the goverment. Did he start the war to freak everyone out to take control of the country? You should be wary of the powerful, but you don't need to be paranoid.

Re: Habeus Corpus - rip

No offence Arc , but your being naive.

Yes , Enemy Combatants are the only ones who dont have Habeus Corpus. BUT ,and this is a MASSIVE BUT, the bills state that the administration determines who is an enemey combatant . US citizens can be named an EC.  Even the enemy deserves the right to a public court hearing. Not all "Enemy Combatants" are guilty!!!! Have you not learnt anything from Gitmo????

The Patriot Act and the Military Commisions Act have killed , absolutely killed, the US Constitution.

People far far more intelligent , more researched and more informed than YOU or I , say the same.... including Republican congressmen.

Being seen(or not seen) in a Wheelchair is pretty laughable if your comparing it to laws that Bush etc are passing.

Japan outrightly attacked the US. Rounding up Japanese people (many Japanese Americans were leaving to join up with the enemy) was  probably over the top but it was a proper war.

PS. Your laws dont affect me (as much as you). Theres no reason for me to be "paranoid". I just find it disasterous what your 'leaders' are doing to , what use to be the brightest beacon for freedom and liberty on the planet,  YOUR country, the USA.

What does my country (I'm primarily British by the by) have to do with it? Are you offended that someone who knows far more about american politics than a lot of Americans actually finds your current situation almost laughable, if it wasnt as bad as it is?

And incidentally, do you think its right for the President to assume war powers without Congress' permission?
