new tip, got it off BF2S. I'll write it here and add it above.
A lot of computers are dual-core (mine is, and I bought it two years ago. Had no idea) However, BF2142 (and 2) only run on 1 core. So having both on rduces performance a lot (I'm talking around 20fps here).
How to turn off one of the cores:
1. Start BF2142.
2. Hit alt+tab to minimize it.
3. Hit ctrl+alt+delete, and click "task manager" if ti doesnt come up by itself.
4. Go to the "processes tab"
5. Right click on "Bf2142.exe" and click "set affinity"
6. Unselect any CPUs above 0 (most will just have 0 and 1). If you only have 0, then you dont have dual core and this wont work.
7. Exit the task manager and click on bf2142 in the taskbar and play.
8. You should notice a rise in FPS. To access FPS, open the console in a round (` key) and type "renderer.drawfps 1"
I'm unsure if this is permanent. Probably not.
