2142 seems to lack the fear factor of BF2, like trying to hide from a tank or helicopter. Also, the maps are incredibly drab to look at (none of the sweeping beauty of the Chinese maps from BF2), all combat seems to take place at less than 100m, and there's way too much radar. Stealth seems impossible these days. There's netbat, which means if spotted by one person 5 others can see you, rapidly recharging UAVs, Otus drones, support gadget that detects people, vehicle radar. If you've played the public beta for 1.2, they're adding radar smoke grenades (that release a radar pulse before smoking) and infantry sonar, that gives you your own UAV wherever you want it. The only good thing they've added is a netbat jammer for recon.

So while 2142 is much more balanced than BF2, I think they've overdone it and "noobified" it.

BF2 n00b you were hmmmmmmph...

BF2 would be perfect, if they made a few tweaks:

-Jets have to land to rearm (but get twice as many bombs/missiles)
-Helicopter TV missiles have much less range, and less damage (i.e, one misile will do 75% damage to a tank, not 100%)
-Gun AA instead of missile.
-More smoke grenades given to assault to make the class useful, and better smoke grenades.
-Reduction in accuracy of G36E, FAMAS and PKM
-Introduction of decreasing damage with range, like in BF2142, to give assault rifles a longer range than carbines (one of my biggest gripes is that a Spec Ops can outrange an Assault)
-Institute medic and ammo bag system from 2142 to prevent instant heals.
-Combine engineer and AT and make the shotgun an unlock.
-Greater armour on transport choppers and the ability to "fast-rope" down from them)
-Destroy karkand (ok, so a lot of people like it, but I don't )
