Thats not really realistic tho is it. Why would any vehicle only be unlocked for some people and not others?

Because to the best of my knowledge, we can't simulate in any other way how a stormie entering a TIE Avenger would have no clue as to how to start it. Or maybe we can, that'd be nice.

Landspeeders, speeder bikes, and so on? Fine, let anyone drive them. But AT-STs, tanks, TIE Fighters and the like? No way you can just jump in one and instantly figure out how to take off. Heck, you can't jump into a regular car and drive it safely without a license. Just figuring out that turning this key starts the engine could take a pretty long time.

Bottom line is, it's far more unrealistic to have storm troopers fly around in TIE Interceptors.

What makes you think a stormy couldnt operate an ATST?  Chewbacca managed it fine ...heck , 2 ewoks got it walkin.

What im sayin is , its more unrealistic to lock vehicles ,if by magic, for certain people than it is to allow them to try and use the vehicle.

Ideally youd give pilot classes some kind of bonus over the ordinary trooper(tho i believe its not posible, if i remember our coders correctly).

Or, we could simply just have the player model change to the correct pilot ,as and when you get in a vehicle ( for land maps). Is that any more unrealistic than having sulky , anal vehicles ? lol

Could you have people lose their main weapon upon entering a vehicle? SpO they become the pilot class? The annoyance is when, as an anti-tank, you take out a tank to 5% health and the guy jumps out and guns you down with a LMG. That seems a little unrealistic.

Yup, that's another problem. Except of course no one in Star Wars have LMG's tongue .

So yes, if you are to morph into a pilot or tanker when entering a difficult-to-operate vehicle, you should lose your weapon, too. Pilots should have naught but a vibro-blade, a pistol, and perhaps a light medi-kit and a signal grenade that emitted red smoke telling friendlies where to go to extract you.

I'd prefer starfighters and "tank" type vehicles like AT-ATs being locked for pilots only -- if only for the pilot class to actually have a purpose and be notably different than an infantry class with a lamer gun.
